Welcome to Day 3 of the 1% More Holistic Series Challenge! Today, we’re soaking up one of the simplest and most effective wellness boosts: Getting sunlight first thing in the morning.
Exposing yourself to natural light shortly after waking helps regulate your circadian rhythm—your body’s internal clock. This promotes better sleep at night, steadier energy throughout the day, and even improved mood.
How to Start Your Day with Light:
- If the sun is up: Open your blinds or curtains as soon as you wake up to let the light pour in. Or, step outside for 5–10 minutes if you can, even if it’s cloudy—natural daylight still works wonders. In the spring and summer, I love enjoying my morning coffee outside, but I just enjoy it in front of a window.
- If you wake up before sunrise: Use a SAD (seasonal affective disorder) light and sit in front of it for 10 minutes in the morning while eating breakfast, enjoying a coffee, journaling, stretching, etc. Stack the habit with something you love doing!
