Glow Up with Red Light Magic: Skin, Pain, and Power, Oh My!
Whenever I share about red light therapy, I always get lots of questions about it:
What are the benefits?
Which one do you use?
How often do you do it?
Do you like it?
For the last three questions - yes, I LOVE it! I always feel so relaxed after sitting in front of my red light and my skin health has drastically improved!
For how often, I do it about 4-5 times a week, but you can do it daily if you want to!
And for where I got mine from, I got mine from Bon Charge - they’re spa quality except in your home. You can find it here and save 25% for their holiday sale!
As for the benefits, that needed a whole blog post in itself - so below are all the benefits and various reasons why people are turning to red light therapy!
Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation (PBM), involves exposure to red or near-infrared light to stimulate various cellular functions. While research on red light therapy is still evolving, many benefits have been identified.
Here are the top benefits:
1. Improved Skin Health:
- Collagen Production: Red light therapy may stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles.
- Wound Healing: It may enhance the healing of wounds, cuts, and injuries by promoting cell regeneration.
2. Pain Management:
- Reduced Inflammation: Red light therapy may help in reducing inflammation, making it useful for managing inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.
- Pain Relief: Alleviate pain, particularly in musculoskeletal disorders and joint-related issues.
3. Muscle Recovery and Performance:
- Enhanced Recovery: Athletes and fitness enthusiasts may use red light therapy to speed up muscle recovery after intense workouts.
- Improved Performance: Studies suggest that red light therapy may enhance muscle performance and strength.
4. Joint Health:
- Arthritis Management: Red light therapy may offer relief for individuals with arthritis by reducing pain and inflammation in the joints.
5. Cognitive Function:
- Brain Health: There is some research suggesting that red light therapy may have neuroprotective effects, potentially benefiting conditions like Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
6. Improved Circulation:
- Increased Blood Flow: Red light therapy may enhance blood circulation, which can contribute to better oxygenation and nutrient delivery to tissues.
7. Hair Growth:
- Stimulated Hair Follicles: Some studies indicate that red light therapy might promote hair growth by stimulating hair follicles and improving blood flow to the scalp.
8. Mood and Sleep Regulation:
- Regulated Circadian Rhythms: Exposure to red light, especially in the evening, may help regulate circadian rhythms and improve sleep quality.
- Mood Enhancement: There is some evidence suggesting that red light therapy may have positive effects on mood and mental well-being.
9. Reduced Acne and Skin Inflammation:
- Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Red light therapy may help reduce inflammation associated with acne and other skin conditions. If you prefer a red light face mask, check it out HERE.
