Hair care tips for healthy, long hair

Before I dive into it, I just want to preface that this routine has slowly developed over one year for me. I did not make every swap immediately. I first got the rosemary serum and essential oils and started using them while I used up the shampoo I already had. Then when the shampoo and conditioner were out, I upgraded to Plaine Products.

My goal is to make holistic living SIMPLE and AFFORDABLE. That’s why I always focus on making one swap at a time, because stress can be pretty toxic too - so we’re not going stress ourselves out over making all the swaps at once.

If you’re ready to dive into a holistic lifestyle one swap at time and learn all the affordable ways to reduce toxins in your home, join my Natural Home Cleaning + Beauty Mastery Course. This is where I teach you nontoxic DIYs and share all my holistic hacks, it’s the one stop shop to holistic living made simple. If you're anything like me, you've probably tried every product under the sun to achieve that elusive perfect hair. Well, let me tell you, after years of experimenting, I've discovered the game-changer we've all been waiting for – nontoxic hair care.

So, buckle up, because I'm about to spill the beans on the natural, fabulous ways to grow those luscious, healthy locks without the drama of harmful chemicals. Trust me, your hair will thank you, and you'll be flaunting a mane tin no time! Let's dive into the secrets of nontoxic hair care and say goodbye to bad hair days forever!

Hair washing day:

Preparation:

First I spray Hair Repair, it’s a nontoxic detangler that also helps prevent split ends on the bottom of my hair and gently brush. Since my hair is straight, I try to only brush it when it is dry to reduce damage.

Pre-Shower Treatment:

Before getting in the shower, I use a rosemary serum along my hairline to create a full thick hairline. I noticed parts of my hairline near my temples was getting thin, so I gave it a try and it’s working so well. Massage it into your scalp and distribute it evenly through the lengths of your hair. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse it out in the shower.

In-Shower Routine: with filtered showerhead

While in the shower, rinse your hair with a solution of diluted apple cider vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar helps balance the pH of your scalp, reducing greasiness and removing product build-up. To do this, I fill a 16 oz jar up about a ¼ full and fill the rest with warm water from the shower.

Shampoo and Condition:

I’m so faithful to my shampoo and conditioner - I LOVE them and have been using them for the past 2 years. I use Plaine Products' non-toxic shampoo and conditioner. Concentrate the shampoo on the scalp, massaging it in circular motions to cleanse thoroughly. Apply conditioner from the ears to the tips, focusing on areas prone to dryness. Allow the conditioner to sit for a few minutes before rinsing.

Hair Tea Treatment:

While my hair is still damp, I spray in hair tea - made with peppermint, rosemary, and clove. This helps promote growth, reduce premature graying, and creates a healthy soft shine.

Styling:

I very rarely use heat on my hair, just about every night I use heatless hair curlers (it’s the lazy girl's way to have cute hair everyday). Wrap your hair at night and when you wake up in the morning your hair will have gorgeous curls. For a nontoxic hair spray, I use John Masters Organics.
