How to use lemongrass essential oil
You can use lemongrass essential oil to keep bugs away, clean your home, and freshen up your space.
Lemongrass is an often overlooked essential oil but an excellent staple oil with many different uses.
Bonus - it’s budget-friendly!
While the names are similar, it’s pretty different from lemon essential oil. It comes from the leaves of the lemongrass plant, while lemon oil comes from the peels of lemon fruit.
Lemongrass, the plant, smells fantastic and is a great plant to have in your backyard - it’s a natural mosquito repellent and has many more uses too!
Below are a few of my favorite ways to use lemongrass essential oil.
Keep the bugs away
Because of its high citral and geraniol content, lemongrass helps to keep bugs away. You can use it to protect your home from ants and mosquitos by adding it to cleaning products or spraying around doors and windows. Add it to your DIY insect repellent to keep your skin safe and protected. Cordless diffusers are also great for diffusing lemongrass while you enjoy the outdoors!
Clean your home
The oil has antibacterial properties, which is why I love using it to clean my home. Not only does it smell fresh and uplifting, but it also helps keep things clean and shiny. Add a few drops to your favorite natural cleaner, or use it in your DIY cleaning products.
Freshen up your space
Aside from having some pretty incredible properties and uses, lemongrass smells AMAZING and can help to clean the air in your home and freshen up any space. It has a subtle citrusy scent that’s more earthly than lemon oil. Diffuse it around your home when you want to keep things smelling fresh while putting you in a bright and cheerful mood!
