Essential oil safety and pets

While most of your everyday essential oils like lavender, lemon, and frankincense are perfectly safe to use around your pets, there are some you may want to avoid. Certain oils could potentially cause a negative reaction like difficulty breathing, tremors, or vomiting. If this occurs, contact your pet’s veterinarian. It’s important to remember that just like humans, every pet is different. Always consult with your pet’s veterinarian for the best advice to follow!

Oils to Avoid -

  •   Basil

  • Birch

  •  Cinnamon

  • Clove

  •  Dill

  •  Fennel

  •  Tea Tree

  • Oregano

  •  Peppermint

  • Thyme

  •  Rosemary

  • Spearmint

  • Wintergreen

When using an oil that you know is safe for your pet, let them first sniff the bottle with the lid closed and see how they react. When diffusing, start with just a few drops of oil and ensure your diffuser is in an open area. Make sure your pet can leave the room as they please. If they don’t like the oil you’re using, they’ll let you know!
