11 Uses for lavender oil

When you think of lavender, you probably think of the calming and relaxing scents of bath salts and spas. While lavender essential oil is excellent for relaxation, it also has countless other uses. Lavender essential oil is one of my favorite and most often used oils. If you're new to oils or looking for fresh ways to use one of your favorites, here are 11 uses for lavender essential oil!

Restful sleep

Studies show lavender can help with better quality sleep and can help you wake up feeling refreshed. 

Dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil and apply it to the bottoms of your feet. Diffuse lavender essential oil 20 minutes before bedtime to create a calming and relaxing environment for sleep. 

Reduces rosacea

Lavender essential oil is one of the best oils to reduce rosacea. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help to calm and soothe the skin. 

Dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil and apply to the affected areas. 

Soothes eczema

Lavender essential oil can help nourish dry, irritated skin and soothe eczema flare-ups. 

Dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil and apply to the affected areas. 

Creates a calming environment

Diffuse lavender essential oil in your common spaces to create a soothing and serene space.

Diaper rash

Lavender is gentle enough for even the littlest member of your family. 

Follow proper age and dilution guidelines when using lavender essential oil and apply to the affected areas as needed. 

Allergies

If you struggle with seasonal sniffles, lavender essential oil can calm any irritation or inflammation. 

Diffuse lavender essential oil throughout your home or dilute with a carrier oil and apply topically. 

Joint Pain

If you're dealing with muscle soreness or achy joints, lavender can help bring you some relief. 

Dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil and apply directly to the area, or add to an Epsom salt bath. 

Headaches

If you deal with head tension or migraines, studies show lavender essential oil can relieve your symptoms. 

Add a drop of lavender essential oil to the palm of your hands and breathe deep or apply diluted, or in a premade roller bottle, on your temples to reduce symptoms. 

Promotes focus

If you're studying, working, or just trying to tackle your to-do list, lavender can help keep you focused and promote concentration. 

Diffuse lavender in your workspace to stay productive.

Deodorant

Lavender essential oil is soothing, nourishing, and germ-fighting, making it perfect (and simple) for using as a deodorant!

Dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil and apply directly to your underarms. 

Hair care

Lavender essential oil is iiiiincredible for your hair! It promotes growth, shine, and stronger hair. 

Add a drop of lavender essential oil to your shampoo for healthy hair. 


Safety 

When using lavender, or any essential oil, remember always to dilute! You can read more about dilution in this blog post!

Do not ingest internally. 

Children: Lavender oil is safe for children 2 and up, as long you dilute properly. 

Pregnancy: Avoid lavender oil in your first and second trimester of pregnancy. 

Cats: Lavender oil is not recommended for use with cats. 

Dogs: Lavender oil is considered safe to use with dogs.
