DIY Cleaners on a Budget

Now that the Holidays are over and the new year is beginning, I'm in full-blown deep-cleaning mode.

If your New Year resolution is to ditch toxic chemicals, or you're looking for cleaning products on a budget, I've got a few simple DIYs to help you start the year off right!

DIY All-Purpose Cleaner

Save your orange peels!

This DIY is super simple, sustainable, and non-toxic. Start by saving up your orange (or any citrus) peels in a jar. Then, pour enough distilled white vinegar to cover the peels, put the lid on, and store in a cool, dry, dark place for 2 weeks.

After 2 weeks, pour the solution into a spray bottle, and voila - your all-purpose cleaner is ready!

Vinegar is inexpensive, great for grease and grime, and a disinfectant!

For tougher messes like bathrooms, toilets, or any caked-on grease, sprinkle a little baking soda, spray your all-purpose spray, and give it a little scrub!

Garbage Disposal Refresh

Is your sink a little stinky?

Any time I'm drinking or cooking with lemons, I save the extras and throw them down the disposal with a bit of baking soda. Let it sit for a while, and then pour hot water down the drain. Your disposal will stay fresh, and your whole kitchen will smell citrusy!

Fresh and Clean Diffuser Blends

I always like to diffuse something fresh while I'm cleaning to motivate me to get it done and to freshen the air while I clean. Here are a few of my favorites -

2 drops Eucalyptus

4 drops Lemon

4 drops Grapefruit

4 drops Peppermint

5 drops Lavender

2 drops Rosemary

4 drops Lavender

4 drops Lemon
