DIY dry shampoo

Store bought dry shampoo can have ingredients like talc, butane, propane, phenoxyethanol, cetrimonium chloride, fragrances and silicones. Each of these ingredients carry short term and/or long term health problems.

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that these ingredients in small quantities are generally safe. However, while a tiny bit of toxins in one product is fine - a tiny bit in most of your beauty products can add up overtime and may come with a risk.

So lets reduce toxin exposure when it’s in our control, starting with swapping store bought dry shampoo with a simple DIY dry shampoo. Bonus: no more white marks in your hair from dry shampoo!

DIY Dry Shampoo:

Instructions:

In a small glass bowl, combine arrowroot powder with cocoa powder. Match dry shampoo color to your roots. Optional, add one drop of peppermint essential oil for a refreshing aroma and to absorb greasiness. Apply using a clean makeup brush by gently dabbing the powder to your roots.
