Reducing anxiety, naturally

We’ve all heard how meditation, journaling, and lavender oil can help with anxiety, but let’s take a deeper look at the root of what could be causing your anxiety and how you can support your body naturally and reduce anxiety from the start!

1. Nourish your body

Several studies point out a link between diet and mental health. Although there is a lot to unpack when it comes to diet, I want to point out two important factors that could be contributing to your anxiety.

2. Eat Enough

Many people live by the iced coffee for breakfast and work through your lunch break mentality. These habits are wreaking havoc on your body and negatively affecting your mental health. Eating too few calories can throw off your hormones and blood sugar, increasing anxiety. Remember, food is meant to nourish and fuel you. Many health issues today can be improved by nourishing your body well and often.

3. Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods

You probably already guessed this one. We all know that sugar and processed foods aren't the best for our bodies. These two lead to blood sugar imbalances and inflammation in the body, causing increased levels of anxiety.

4.Consider Herbal Supplements

There are several supplements on the market today for mental health. I’m so glad this is something that’s becoming more and more accessible and researchers are finding natural solutions!

One of my favorite supplements for anxiety is Ashwagandha.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb popular in both traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine). It has been shown to help balance cortisol levels, which helps to reduce and manage the body’s stress response.

My favorite way to incorporate Ashwagandha is with Peak Valley’s Balance My Stress Blend

Balance My Stress combines Ashwagandha with Reishi Mushrooms for immune support, Eleuthero Root to protect against fatigue, and Cacao for cognitive and cardiovascular benefits and improved blood flow.

It has a chocolatey, earthy, slightly bitter taste and is easy to add to your morning coffee, milk, or tea. It tastes less like a supplement and more like a chocolatey treat with tons of benefits!
