The Power of Positive Affirmations: How to Use Them to Improve Your Mental Health

My fiance and I are back to long distance for a short period of time, and one thing that really helps me get through it mentally is positive affirmations. Positive affirmations are simple, yet powerful phrases that can help you improve your mental health and overall well-being. These affirmations are designed to replace negative thoughts and beliefs with positive ones, which can help you feel more confident, motivated, and optimistic. And no, it is not toxic positivity - validate your feelings, but don't spiral downward in them. That’s where the positive affirmations come in. 

One of the best things about positive affirmations is that they can be used by anyone, regardless of their age or background. Whether you are dealing with stress, anxiety, or sadness, positive affirmations can help you overcome these challenges and improve your overall well-being.

So, how can you use positive affirmations to improve your mental health? Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Write them down: Writing down your positive affirmations can help you internalize them and make them more powerful. You can write them on a piece of paper and post them where you can see them often, such as on your bathroom mirror or in your office.
