Top 10 Ways to Use Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is a versatile essential oil that has been used for centuries for its therapeutic properties. It has a cooling, refreshing, and energizing aroma with so mant uses - here are my top ten fav ways to use it!

  1. Aromatherapy: Peppermint oil can be used in a diffuser to create a refreshing and energizing atmosphere. It can also help promote focus, this is one that you want to diffuse in your office.

  2. Headache relief: Peppermint oil has analgesic properties that can help to relieve headaches. Simply apply a diluted drop of peppermint oil to your temples, forehead, and neck, and massage gently. Or make a 10 ml roller bottle with 10 drops of peppermint and 10 ml of a liquid carrier oil.

  3. Respiratory support: Peppermint oil can be used to alleviate respiratory symptoms such as coughing, congestion, and sinusitis. You can inhale it directly from the bottle or add a few drops to a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam.

  4. Muscle pain relief: Peppermint oil has a cooling effect that can help to relieve muscle pain and soreness. Mix a few drops with a carrier oil like coconut oil or almond oil and massage onto the affected area.

  5. Digestive support: Peppermint oil can be used to soothe digestive issues like indigestion, bloating, and nausea. Add a few drops to a carrier oil and massage onto the abdomen.

  6. Natural insect repellent: Peppermint oil can be used as a natural insect repellent to keep mosquitoes, ants, and other pests at bay. Simply mix a few drops with water and spray onto surfaces or apply directly to the skin. In the summer, I spray my windowsills with a peppermint solution!

  7. DIY Deodorant: Make your own cooling deodorant with peppermint oil combining ½ C coconut oil and ½ C arrowroot powder and 20 drops of peppermint essential oil. Watch recipe video here.

  8. Hair care: Peppermint oil can be used to promote healthy hair growth and prevent dandruff. Mix a few drops with your shampoo and massage into the scalp.

  9. Skin care: Peppermint oil can be used to soothe skin irritations such as itching, rashes, and sunburn. Mix with a carrier oil (for sunburn add to aloe gel!) and apply to the affected area.

  10. Household cleaning: Peppermint oil can be used as a natural and effective cleaning agent. Add a few drops to a spray bottle with water and use to clean surfaces, floors, and windows.
