What Your Skincare Routine is Missing

My skincare routine isn’t just a topical skincare routine.

Skincare starts with what we eat, drink, bathe in, AND what we apply to our skin.

This is what I do for my skin, that doesn’t involve any topical cream, serum, or oil.

Filtered Showerhead:

The source of many of our skin and hair concerns often lies in the water we use during showers.

Virtually every water supply contains chlorine, heavy metals, and various pollutants that form the underlying causes of the problems we've been working so hard to address: from damaged hair and acne to eczema and dry skin. HERE is the showerhead filter I use.

Skincare Cocktails:

Indulging in the ultimate self-care routine, I've made a delightful habit of sipping on our skincare cocktails daily to nurture my skin health. These carefully curated teas are a testament to the power of clinically-proven ceramides, which work tirelessly to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, revealing a more youthful complexion with each passing day. Hyaluronic acid joins the party, lending its expertise in supporting water retention and maintaining skin elasticity, resulting in a suppleness that truly radiates. As I relish every sip, I also relish the deep hydration that electrolytes and minerals provide, leaving my skin with a luminous glow that can't go unnoticed.

The inclusion of green tea catechins brings an extra layer of brightness and firmness to my skin, while the detoxifying effects of chlorophyll diligently work to cleanse both body and skin toxins. And for those moments of balance and tranquility, I've found solace in the embrace of L-theanine – an amino acid that keeps me grounded, focused, and full of calm-energy, without any unwelcome jitters or caffeine crashes. So, while I embark on my journey towards nourished skin, I find joy in each sip of these skincare cocktails, which offer a holistic approach to skincare that truly resonates with me. Drinking Good ole H2O:

We KNOW that staying hydrated is essential to our wellness, but let’s talk about it again - a friendly reminder is always beneficial:

Drinking water plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin. Adequate hydration is essential for various bodily functions, including skin health. Here's how drinking water benefits your skin:

  • Hydrates Skin Cells: When your body is well-hydrated, skin cells are better nourished, which contributes to a more plump and youthful appearance.

  • Moisturizes from Within: Proper hydration helps maintain the skin's natural moisture barrier, preventing excessive dryness and flakiness.

  • Reduces Wrinkles: Well-hydrated skin is less likely to show fine lines and wrinkles, as it maintains its elasticity and resilience.

  • Boosts Blood Circulation: Hydration supports healthy blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to skin cells and aiding in their repair and regeneration.

  • Supports Skin Healing: Hydrated skin heals more efficiently, whether from minor irritations or more significant issues.

  • Supports Skin Detoxification: Drinking water aids the body in removing waste and toxins, which can indirectly benefit skin health.

  • Improves Sun Protection: Hydrated skin can better defend itself against environmental stressors, including sun damage.

Exercise:

Another thing that we KNOW is part of a healthy lifestyle. But I want to simplify it. You do not need to hit the gym daily for an hour to gain the benefits of exercising. You just need to move your body - find the movement that works best for you!

  • Go on a walk and listen to your favorite podcast, or go with a bestie.

  • Play your favorite playlist and dance!

  • Stretch after a long day while watching your show.

Make it FUN for you.

Here are the benefits of exercise for your skin for some motivation. ;)

Regular exercise offers numerous benefits for your overall health, and these advantages extend to your skin as well.

Here's how staying active can contribute to healthier and more radiant skin:

  • Enhanced Blood Circulation: Exercise improves blood flow, which means that more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to your skin cells. This increased circulation contributes to a healthier complexion and a natural glow.

  • Detoxification: Sweating during exercise helps expel toxins from your body, which can lead to clearer skin by reducing the burden on your skin's detoxification processes.

  • Improved Sleep Quality: Regular physical activity can improve your sleep quality and duration. A good night's sleep is crucial for skin repair and rejuvenation, helping to maintain a vibrant appearance.

  • Healthy Oil Production: Exercise can help regulate the production of sebum, the skin's natural oil. Balanced oil production can prevent clogged pores and reduce the risk of acne breakouts.

  • Enhanced Collagen Production: Physical activity stimulates collagen production, a protein that gives your skin structure and elasticity. Increased collagen levels can help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Better Skin Elasticity: Exercise, particularly strength training, helps tone muscles and firm the skin, leading to improved skin elasticity and a more youthful look.

  • Youthful Glow: The improved circulation and oxygenation of skin cells during exercise can give your skin a healthy, youthful radiance.

  • Reduced Inflammation: Chronic inflammation can lead to various skin issues. Regular exercise can help lower systemic inflammation, contributing to healthier skin.

  • Enhanced Lymphatic Drainage: Exercise supports lymphatic flow, aiding in the removal of waste products from the skin and reducing puffiness.

  • Regulation of Hormones: Exercise can help balance hormones, which can positively impact conditions like hormonal acne and skin sensitivities.

If you’re into yoga, HERE is my favorite nontoxic yoga mat.

Red Light Therapy:

Red light therapy is all the rave in the holistic living space, so let’s talk about it.

This is a bit of a pricier option, but if it’s in your budget I can promise that you’ll love it. And I was able to talk my fav brand into giving me a discount code to share with you, so that can help too!

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive treatment that uses red or near-infrared light to stimulate various cellular processes in the skin.

Here are the benefits of red light therapy for skin health:

  • Collagen Production: Red light therapy stimulates the production of collagen, a protein crucial for maintaining skin's firmness, elasticity, and youthful appearance. Increased collagen levels can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Improved Skin Texture: By promoting collagen synthesis, red light therapy can lead to smoother and more even skin texture, reducing the appearance of roughness and blemishes.

  • Reduced Inflammation: Red light therapy has anti-inflammatory effects, which can help soothe and calm irritated skin, especially for those with conditions like acne, rosacea, or eczema.

  • Minimize Scarring: Red light therapy can help reduce the appearance of scars by stimulating collagen production and promoting tissue regeneration.

  • Reduced Appearance of Sunspots and Hyperpigmentation: Red light therapy can help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of sunspots and hyperpigmentation by promoting cellular turnover and minimizing melanin production.

  • Increased Cell Regeneration: Red light therapy accelerates the regeneration of skin cells, leading to a fresher and healthier complexion.

  • Support for Acne Treatment:Red light therapy can help reduce acne by targeting inflammation and bacteria responsible for breakouts. It can also promote healing and prevent future scarring.

  • Enhanced Healing for Skin Conditions: Red light therapy has been found to benefit various skin conditions, including psoriasis and dermatitis, by reducing inflammation and supporting the skin's natural healing processes.

  • Natural Skin Tightening: Red light therapy can help tighten the skin by stimulating collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer and more toned skin.

  • Anti-Aging Effects: The combination of improved skin texture, reduced wrinkles, and enhanced skin elasticity makes red light therapy a popular choice for those seeking anti-aging benefits.

Red light therapy is often offered in professional settings such as dermatology clinics or spas, or try it at home HERE with a red light face mask & as promised use discount code LIVHOLISTIC to save over $50.

This is one of my longest blogs, I’ve been spending lots of time trying to perfect my skincare routine. It’s actually been years since I first started focusing on my skin health.

I recommend trying one thing to add into your routine and then in 2 weeks, add in another and slowly grow it. This is a lifestyle not a quick fix, take your time and be kind to yourself.

You’re worth it.

With Gratitude,

Liv
