How to Keep Your Skin Nourished and Hydrated This Winter: My Complete Routine

Winter is here. And I don't know about you, but my skin used to always get so dry every winter. My cheeks would turn to sandpaper, my lips would crack down the middle and on the corners, and my legs looked like a reptile with scales. If you can relate to this, this blog is for you - this is how I overcame dry winter skin from head to toes, literally.

This is exactly what I do to combat dry winter skin- and I’d also like to thank Miss Kylie Jenner for posting one of these tips to her IG because it changed my skin!

Here’s how you can do it too:

After a shower, when your skin is still damp, rub hydrating body oils on your arms, legs, chest, everywhere. These oils are typically made with a blend of nourishing plant-based oils, such as coconut, avocado, and argan oil, which help to deeply moisturize the skin without leaving a greasy residue.

I use Plant Therapy’s Near Perfection body oil that’s meant to soothe, heal, and restore your skin. If you have razor burn, or any type of skin irritation this blend helps heal your skin. Which I feel like I need all winter long.

And let’s not forget about that gorgeous face of yours! I also use Plant Therapy’s Vitamin C and Rose Serum, but if you have acne - I’d rec the Tea Tree serum instead to help reduce acne.

And over the serums I use another oil blend, but let me stop there and explain because if I read this two years ago - I’d stop reading and never do this routine because “I don’t want to breakout by putting oils on my face.” If you’re also thinking that, I hear you - but lets trust the process.

You have two great options (you actually have a million options, but I’m keeping it simple and sharing my two favorites as far as winter skincare).

Option 1: Younger Glo is a blend for antiaging and to give your skin that radiant glow. You’ll apply a small amount (3-4 drops) and pat on your face and neck after your skincare routine.

Option 2: Clear Complex is a blend designed to reduce acne and blemishes, and will be the best option for you if you have oily skin. Remember, sometimes oily skin needs an oil so your skin knows it’s safe to stop over producing oil. You’ll apply a small amount (3-4 drops) and pat on your face and neck after your skincare routine.

This really worked for me, and I hope it can help you too. Take the information that works for you and leave the rest behind- your skincare routine should be customized to you and your needs!

Here are a few more tips that can help keep your skin and body hydrated and nourished this winter:

Tip 1: Drink plenty of water. This may seem obvious, but staying hydrated is essential for maintaining healthy, hydrated skin. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day to keep your skin plump and hydrated.

Tip 2: Sleep with a humidifier on at night. Indoor humidity should be hanging around 45-60%, and with the heat or a fireplace it sometimes drops in the winter. A humidifier can help boost indoor humidity, hydrate your skin, hair, and reduce that dry sore throat you get sometimes.

There are so many natural and holistic practices you can incorporate into your skincare routine to help hydrate and nourish dry skin during the winter season. By using hydrating body oils, drinking plenty of water, and using a humidifier you can enjoy healthy, hydrated skin!

See you next time!

XO, Liv
